CSIE: Introduction to Computers (I)

Homework 2, Due 10/4 (Tuesday)

1. From HW1, you have recorded a table of execution times versus n=30~50 for your PC running the compiled program CS_HW1.exe.   Compare your table with that of your classmate.   The execution time of a program depends on

• CPU clock rate
• Cache memory size (L1 and L2)
• Main memory size and speed
• OS
• System maintenance (fragmented? too many running programs?)
• Others

Try to find the reason why your PC is faster or slower than another PC based on the above listed items.
